Diffraction

Diffraction (2020) is an experimental improvisation for solo cello and electronics. The album encourages a close listening to the imperfections and borders of a tone as it catches, distorts, breathes and breaks. 

The title hints at a perpetual splitting and reunification of sound. The slippages and intensities that corrupt, break and converge. It is the bending of waves around corners, through an aperture, distorting a line of shadow and light. It is the sediments and echoes of sound which seep from one tone to the next.
